At the practice

We are delighted that all our Chiro assistants are moving steadily through their uni courses to become the new generation of chiropractors. Becca is about to start year 1 of training, Paul is now on his second. Nell and Tina are on their final year and are already seeing patients in the student clinics. Congratulations to all four of you!

Don’t you find that there are times in your life when the world simply seems to put a wall of difficulties in your way. Someone close to you has died, another has been diagnosed with a terminal illness, others – that have always been well – are spending extended periods in hospital fighting to regain their health. You want to be and feel like you did when you were 17 or 27… thinner or taller, fitter, wealthier and, hopefully, happier.

Memories are wonderful thing, but they are just that – you can’t travel backwards to a time when life seemed so much easier. What you can do though, is accept that some of these things will happen to you and almost everyone you know. It’s important to recognise and celebrate the person you are now and accept how your past created you.

This thinking becomes ever more important as we age. Chances are  you will be presented with trials and tribulations, both mental and physical. The challenge is always to make yourself move forwards. Focus on enjoying the present, realise that you are still special, still unique and cherish every day.

On a practical level, what we can all do is improve our lifestyles to eat, move and think in a more positive way. Eat naturally, move frequently and don’t deprive yourself of sleep. It’s a wonderful, healing process. Set some goals, it won’t matter if you don’t quite achieve them, but it will be fun trying!
